HORACE MANN SCHOOL
REPORT CARD
Horace Mann School is proud of its many years of tradition as an outstanding educational institution in the City of Bayonne. A vital ingredient of our schoolís success is a core of dedicated faculty and staff whose main goal is to provide a solid learning foundation for our diverse student population.
With the start of the new century, we are excited about meeting the many challenges and expectations generated by our rapidly changing society. Technology is used in many areas. With support from the New Jersey 1998 Eisenhower Professional Development Program, Horace Mann School is partnered with the Center for Improved Engineering and Science Education at Stevens Institute of Technology in an intensive elementary school professional development effort. The initiative focuses on improving teacher proficiency with educational technology and with Internet-based communication tools and curriculum resources in grades 4-6 science, mathematics, and language arts literacy.
The State Report Card provides you with some data which compares Horace Mann School with state averages in a number of different areas. Our school is organized into nine special education classes, two bilingual classes, two full day kindergartens, one half day pre-kindergarten, and two sections of each grade from one to eight.
Our Elementary Guidance Program provides a counselor to deliver a variety of services in the form of individual counseling, small group counseling, class guidance lessons, parent meetings and referrals for our students.
The Horace Mann School Community recognizes the partnership that exists between the home and the school in educating its students. Working together, our teachers and parents have aligned to provide our children with many "extras" which enhance the quality of their educational experience.
As part of our positive learning environment, our students participate in many extra-curricular activities funded by both the Bayonne Board of Education and the Horace Mann School PTA. Horace Mann students and teachers are engaged in the following activities:
