ART
CLUB FAQs
(frequently asked questions):
What is Art Club?
Art Club is an extracurricular Art Advocacy club. Members meet
once a week beginning in October for one (or more) hour(s) to set agendas
and
art related
projects, make art or crafts for fundraising events or select school
functions, socialize with other members, listen to music, learn about
the importance
of advocating -"talking up" art. Some come in with specific
art projects from class or from home while others simply want to talk
about
art ideas or need art help from other students. Still others join because
they visited once with a friend and enjoyed being in the art room.
When do you meet?
We meet on Wednesdays after school, 2:45- 3:45 PM.
What if I am active in a sport and cannot attend some meetings?
You can still join us off-season or when your team does not meet.
Who is eligible?
Any BHS student can join, even if one is not enrolled in art classes. Some,
in fact, join because they cannot fit art into their schedules but still
want to make art during the week.
Are there set Art Club activities?
We do not have specific week-to-week projects. The "open-studio" environment
allows students to come in and work on something on their own or to
ask others for art help. We also are raising money for an art scholarship
this year.
How do I join?
Come by the art room A-13 (basement level below House 1) during an Art
Club meeting. Talk to Mrs. Poruczynski, BHS Art Club Advisor.
Tell me more about the Art Club Scholarship...
Part of our proceeds from the holiday fund-raisers help raise money towards
an annual senior art scholarship. Any BHS senior who plans to major in
the fine or applied arts (i.e.. architecture, graphic arts, fine arts,
etc.) can apply for this scholarship.
