“Most Important Lessons”

No world without hatred.

No school without fear

for someone deprived

of a friend to hold dear.

Truth is injustice

and people are cruel

to a life that is different

and one easily fooled

to believe that a friendship

just cannot be bought.

No book with its secrets

and no battle you’ve fought

will teach you these lessons.

There is nothing to learn

from studies in classrooms

while liberty burns.

Take heart of people

and respect what they do

or else society suffers

the weight of its rules.

The city is broken

not by vandals or fiends

but instead by the hatred

of those who raise teens.

Will you look in the mirror?

What will you see?

A soul taught nothing

or one that is free?
