In Our School

In our halls

Respect is cool

Everybody knows

To act right in school.

The boys and girls are all so different

From wraps to do-rags

French braids and extensions

One may carry a purse while another a blue bag.

Some walk and talk

Or have a comfortable ride

Yet others like to take the bus

We all get to class with our own special stride.

We have security guards roaming around

They are here for our protection

Some are strict yet others are lenient

But we all have to walk through metal detection.

We laugh and cry

We complain and whine

But through it all

We have a great time.

We celebrate multi-cultural holidays

And decorate the halls with a cheerful phrase

It’s not easy being one in two thousand

But friends are plentiful in this maze.

Our school is a blast

Life’s lessons are taught

Sometimes even in class

But that’s only if you get caught!
