Obtaining an education is a serious endeavor.  John M. Bailey Students are expected to conduct themselves in a proper manner at all times.  This insures the creation of an atmosphere in which learning, studying, and work can proceed best.  It will also make our students aware of the fact that they must take responsibility for their actions.

The students of John M. Bailey School are entitled to learn and develop in a setting which promotes respect of self, others, and property.  In order to achieve this goal students are encouraged to use time and resources in a responsible manner, to meet the unique requirements of each class, to prepare themselves for the learning process, to share responsibilities when working in a group, to demonstrate respect for people and property, to be responsible for their behavior and learning, and to communicate with parents and school about school related matters.

The curriculum of John M. Bailey School includes a quality instructional and cultural program which utilizes a variety of methods, materials, and new technology in order to meet the needs, interest and abilities of the students.  John M. Bailey encourages a strong sense of civic awareness with commitment beyond the school.  Individuality is respected and family involvement is encouraged.  A concerned administration and caring staff addresses the intellectual, emotional, social well-being of students in Grades Preschool through Eight.

In order to encourage students to always keep striving to be the best that they can be John M. Bailey School has established a Student of the Month Program, the Bailey Pride Program, Shining Stars, and a Character Education Award.  By achieving these awards, students become fine examples to other students of what commitment to excellence in education is and what respect, fairness, and caring is all about.

The John M. Bailey School Council provides students with a positive experience in government.  Students campaign for office and speak before an assembly of their peers.  Through this process students gain an insight into the election process and develop positive life skills that will help them to get along and work with others.

In order to promote good citizenship and a sense of civic responsibility, John M. Bailey School participates in the annual district-wide food drive to benefit the needy.  John M. Bailey students collect gifts for the hospitalized veterans.  John M. Bailey students help raise money for Childhood Cancer Association and the American  Cancer Society.

Read, read, read!  That's the most important message that we can send to our parents and students.  Reading is the key to every students' success in all subject areas.  Parents are encouraged to read with and to their children on a daily basis.  John M. Bailey School has a Read-Aloud Program for all students in Preschool through Grade 4, and the Five Thousand Page Club for students in Grades 5 through 8th.  The goal of both programs is to improve reading, writing, spelling and public speaking, as well as to make children read for life.

Students at John M. Bailey School participate in academic endeavors as well as athletic competitions.  John M. Bailey School was well represented at the district-wide Academic Challenge, Spelling Bee, Chess Tournament, and Forensic Competitions.  Athletically John M. Bailey School enters Cheer leading Competitions and fields a Boys' Basketball Team, Girls' Basketball Team and Volley Ball Team.

At John M. Bailey School, we believe in "TEACHERS AND PARENTS: WORKING TOGETHER FOR EACH CHILD'S SUCCESS."  Every opportunity is provided for parents to become involved with their children's experiences at school.
