Differentiated Mathematics Program:

The Bayonne School District has implemented a Gifted & Talented Mathematics Program for grades kindergarten through grade eight. The program has been designed to meet individual needs and foster competency in mathematical concepts. Every student will be formally evaluated each year in the spring. Students will be identified using the following criteria:

  1. Student's performance on Scott Foresman-Addison Wesley Quarterly Test.
  2. Student's score on Assessing Performance in Problem Solving.
  3. Teacher recommendation of student's placement.
  4. Student's report card grades in mathematics.
  5. Student's performance score on the mathematics section of the most recent state or standardized test and IQ test for grades 3-8.

Policy of Continuation of Eligibility - Students who are initially accepted into the Plus class will be monitored quarterly and annually to determine continuation of eligibility. If the student is experiencing difficulty, the building level committee will meet to determine whether or not a student will continue in the class or be placed in regular math curriculum for the grade level in which the student is currently enrolled.
