Bayonne High School Steppers

Win State Step Competition

 

Bayonne High School Steppers competed in the New Jersey State Step Association’s (N.J.S.S.A.) Finals on April 21, 2007, and won the title of "State Step Champions.”  The competition was held at Woodbridge High School where the Steppers Phototop nine teams from the state competed in the first N.J.S.S.A. State Finals.  Schools participating in the competition were Bayonne High School, John F. Kennedy High School, West Orange High School (Absalute and Hypnotic), Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School, East Brunswick High School, Summit High School, Colonia High School, and Monmouth Regional High School.

 

The BHS Steppers had an extraordinary year.  As a member of the N.J.S.S.A., they competed in five competitions where they won four first-place titles and one second-place title.  As a result of their dedication to work hard and perform step routines with precision and class, they have captured the attention of schools throughout the state of New Jersey.  The Steppers have also performed in the Columbus Day Parade, BHS Homecoming Pep Rally, 8th Grade Orientation, boys’ basketball games, and student-faculty basketball game.  The BHS Steppers also hosted the first-ever Step Competition in January at Bayonne High School.

 

The members of the team are Lisette Boniche, John Carlos Arcos, Candice Zuleta, Shadaya Ramey, Brittany Chapman, Givanna Taylor, Sinead Johnson, Kiara        Mercedes,   Briana Vazquez, Shanique James, Shaniqua Borders, Cheryl    Watson, Ashley Ingram, Janea Reed, and Krystle Rowan.  The BHS Steppers is coached by Thomasine Parker, Bayonne High School Guidance Counselor.
