    Air mass: a large body of air that has nearly the same temperature and humidity

    Air pressure: all the particles of air pushing down on the earth's surface

    Atmosphere: the blanket of air surrounding our planet The atmosphere consists of five layers.

    Humidity: a measure of moisture in the atmosphere

    Jet stream: a narrow belt of wind that blows high above the earth in the upper troposphere

    Latitude: imaginary lines on a map or globe measuring the degrees north or south of the equator

    Longitude: imaginary lines on a map or a globe  measuring the degrees east or west of the prime meridian

    Temperature: the measure of how hot or cold something is

    Troposphere: the layer of the atmosphere lying closest to the earth; most of the weather occurs in the troposphere

    Wind: the movement of air
