STUDENT HELP

Data Collection:

Students should collect their data twice a week or daily.  Students need to go to MONITORING SITE for their site location.  Here the student will find a dial that represents carbon monoxide levels.  The student needs to record the most recent (current carbon monoxide level in PSI) along with the corresponding date and time.  In addition to this the student needs to record the maximum and minimum levels for the previous 24 hours along with their corresponding times. Students need to return to MONITORING SITE to access their meteorological (weather and temp) site in addition to being able to access their demographics site.

Report Analysis:

Graphs need to have all axes labeled and each graph titled.  The graphs should have the appropriate increments, be neat, readable and take up at least ¾  of the paper.  Your teacher will inform you of what data should be used to create the graphs. All data collected by the group should be transferred to one data sheet.  All other sheets should be saved for reference. Demographic analysis can be done in paragraph form or using the table below.

Site________________                          Population density    ___________
County_____________                         people/sq ft

Type of city ____________                  Zone_______________

    Rural                                                                 Commercial
    Urban                                                                 Industrial
    Suburban                                                            Residential

Traffic Profile____________

    Large number of  high ways
    Low number of  high ways
    Inner city road ways
    Only residential road ways

Write an analysis of your data collection and demographics.  Talk about increases and decreases
in carbon monoxide levels and what you think might be affecting them.  Make sure to reference time of day, temperature, demographics and weather conditions if you think they play some role.  Analysis should be graph specific if your teacher has asked you to make more than one graph.  In addition, there should be a general conclusion discussing the overall project.
