Mathematics

Ann Marie Palmieri-Monahan
Director of Mathematics

A Message from the Mathematics Director:

Bayonne High School offers numerous academic opportunities to the students of Bayonne. The students in the Calculus class may opt for 4 college credits at St. Peter’s College and 3 credits in the Probability and Statistics class for a small tuition fee.

Students may also opt for the Advanced Placement Calculus and Advanced Placement Probability and Statistics Examinations and receive college credit if they achieve a 5 or 4.

The Mathematics Department also offers an AM Tutorial daily from 7:50 to 8:30 AM Monday through Friday to assist students who require additional reinforcement in mathematics. In addition a special tutorial has been designated for present tenth grade students in room 321 daily from 7:50 to 8:30. Parents have been notified regarding students who are in jeopardy of failing HSPA and should attend this AM tutorial. A PM tutorial from 2:40 to 3:50 has been designated for tenth grade students who are unable to attend the AM tutorial because of zero period classes.

Bayonne High School is very fortunate to have a Mathematics Computer Lab with 30 computers and mathematical software including Neufeld Understanding Math, Geometer’s sketchpad and HSPA software to assist students in preparing for the HSPA (Graduation Test). Students also use scientific and the TI 83 graphing calculators in their mathematics classes.

Students are encouraged to obtain a scientific calculator as freshmen which they will use during their four years in high school.
