Task
The year is 1880 and you and colleagues are
investigative reporters for Puck Magazine. The Editor in Chief has assigned you to write
a magazine article on the social and economic problems that affect London,
Manchester and other urban centers as a result of the Industrial
Revolution. Since it is the job of a
newspaper reporter to inform its readers, the Board of Directors of Puck
has given you an unlimited expense account to investigate this controversial
topic.
Your
investigative report will help readers to arrive at their own conclusions about
whether or not Great Britain should introduce legislation to assist cities
affected by industrialization.
Public
opinion is fast becoming an important factor in British politics.
Politicians and the public alike take notice of what is being reported and
written in newspapers.
